We came, we saw, we indulged in at Crave RI Fest at the Dunkin Donuts Center in Providence last night. Part of the CVS Charity Classic series of events, Crave RI showcased local food and beverages to sample, a celebrity chef demonstration, and an all-around great experience for the low price tag of $20 per guest. In other words, if you didn’t make it out to the festival last night, be sure to pay a visit tonight between 5:30 pm and 10:30 pm or be stuck waiting for Crave RI to return next year!
Some of our faves from the evening included ceviche from Fluke, located at 41 Bowens Wharf in Newport, which featured red onion, aji Amarillo, fresh lime, cilantro, and crispy sweet potatoes. Tasted like summertime and paired great with a sip of Whalers Brewing Company’s citrusy Rise beer.
Metacom Kitchen, located at 322 Metacom Ave in Warren, also made an appearance at the festival and offered beet tartare on a taro chip and looked almost too gorgeous to eat. Backyard Food Company packed some heat with their spread of salsas, jams, and sauces. We definitely tried one of everything. You can pick up a jar at any Dave’s Marketplace, Whole Foods, and a wide range of other grocers.
We got our caffeine fix later in the evening at The Nitro Cart, which serves a deliciously creamy cold brew on tap. You can find them at a handful of local eateries, from PVDonuts to Diegos to Bagelz and Crazy Burger (which actually was serving up some tasty vegan patties at Crave RI—take our word for it, it’s definitely worth a bite!). Across the way, Dave’s Coffee teamed up with Grey Sail Brewing to tempt us with a boozy craft-roasted coffee stout that had us drooling.
